Peeling garlic requires dexterity and means lots of sharp bits below the fingernail, as well as being a time consuming and difficult task. This meant I was really pleased to discover the silicone garlic peeler, which allows you to easily separate the peel from the clove when cooking.
All you have to do is top and tail the clove of garlic (and I find it works better if you slit the skin on one side). You then put it in this nifty red tube, and roll it back and forth – and this peels the garlic for you.
This is one of those single use kitchen gadgets you didn’t know you needed until you owned it – and after that your whole life could contain as much garlic as you could ever dream of.
It’s cheap, it’s simple, it works. What’s to lose?
